Single Optimisation of Entire Supply Chain

Supply chains and business planning cycles are typically approached by breaking logistics, manufacturing and sales decisions into smaller problems, with different business divisions and salespeople making choices relating to their area, and the resulting recommendations combined.

Traditionally this has been necessary because a typical planning problem has thousands of interacting possibilities which far exceed the capabilities of a planning team to numerically optimise. However this approach has numerous inefficiencies, creates planning cycles that break as soon as one input needs to be modified, and causes duplication of work due to short-term and long-term planning efforts using different models, software and assumptions.

In contrast, Streamline Consulting has developed and refined planning systems that break this paradigm by building a single model from collection of raw materials through to shipping of finished goods and performing a single global optimisation. Our software maps all the interactions using thousands of variables and provides extremely detailed forecasts of future inventory movements, sales quantities/revenue and required purchases and transport plans. In some cases, we have taken monthly planning processes that take 40+ hours to complete and shrunk them down to a 5 minutes process using innovative user interfaces with a powerful optimisation algorithm.

Our software solutions and expertise are particularly effective in dairy processing, manufacturing and construction. Please contact us for a demonstration.

Key Features

We have experience with a number of third-party cloud based solutions that are suitable for industries where planning requirements are fairly standard.

For more complex supply chains, we have developed our own optimisation engine with exceptional flexibility and fast deployment.

Modelling complex constraints

We are expert at modelling complex or non-linear constraints that typically prevent optimisation software from working.

Reliable and repeatable optimisation

Our world-class proprietary solving algorithms provide a detailed forecast that is guaranteed to represent the maximal profit for a given situation.

Works with any ERP

Our input templates can read data in an automated manner directly or indirectly from ERP systems to give the simulation a consistent initial condition and to re-use your master data.

Create multiple scenarios in minutes

With our innovative user interface, users can easily modify models to represent plant upgrades, new sales opportunities or any other input/constraint.

Identify new opportunities

When our optimisation system is given freedom to find the best product mix and logistics decisions, it often identify opportunities that are not obvious to human planners. Conversely, when forcing the solver to follow a strategy that it does not naturally want to follow, the opportunity cost can be precisely defined.

Built for detailed analysis

Our simulations and solver outputs are written in detail to SQL database, perfect for analysing through Power BI, pivot tables, or any other BI system. The output of different simulations can be easily shared and compared

Single model

Our inventory model is sufficiently flexible to produce detailed daily plans through to 36 month strategic plans, taking into account constraints such as raw materials that must be processed within 24 hours, right through to products that have seasonal demand or can only be manufactured at certain times per year.

Agile approach

We can provide a mid-range solution that provides insight to your business through a series of agile sprints. Your business then decides what features and additional granularity are desired to get the full power of our optimisation capabilities.

Designed for Fast Deployment

Our system consists of an Excel plug-in which allows users to view and modify the model which is hosted on your SharePoint or OneDrive site. The optimisation runs on our server and quickly returns a dashboard with extremely detailed reporting of all constraints and recommendations. A copy is also stored in SQL for data warehouse capability if required.
