A Brief History

Reuben O’Callaghan has been performing business analysis and developing high-tech solutions for nearly 20 years. A lifelong fascination with computers began with learning to program as a 10-year-old followed by an Electronics Engineering degree. After some years in industry, this was followed with postgraduate study in business administration, focusing on Business Process Reengineering (BPR).

Following the grind of the Canterbury earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 and with the support of family, Reuben took the plunge to fulfil his dream of being self-employed. This started the journey to present day, where Streamline Consulting provides software and consulting services to a small number of clients ranging from $15m to $1b turnover.

Technologies

Many of our largest and most successful projects involve powerful Excel spreadsheets with VBA user interfaces and algorithms so users can clean and unleash their data. Data is then typically transferred to SQL databases or ERP systems as it matures.

Most reporting platforms and ERP systems have very similar core features – it is the data inside that makes or breaks the solution. For this reason we focus our projects on fixing underlying issues, not moving problems from one platform to another.

Where a fresh start is in order, we gravitate towards Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Power BI and C# .Net.
